Overnight Shelter Monitor
Shelter Overnight Support – Mount Vernon WA. 98274
$15 per hour
 
Job Summary
Split shifts early evening/early morning and Overnight shifts, 3 to 4 days a week.
 
Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Winter Shelter Monitor provides support and assistance to the homeless clients in the emergency winter shelter. The shelter is located in the Seventh Day Adventist Church at 4520 E College Way, Mount Vernon WA
 
Responsibilities and Duties
  • Treat residents with respect and compassionate care
  • Transport the winter shelter clients from Friendship House Cafe to the church site each evening and back to the Cafe each morning.
  • Complete intake and background checks of each client checking in.
  • Ensure that all clients adhere to the shelter rules of conduct.
  • Make sure premises of the church’s Gymnasium and restrooms are kept clean.
  • Secure the grounds and make sure that the winter shelter residents stay in the Church from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
  • Communicate with Executive Director any issues.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director
Qualifications and Skills
  • Bi-lingual, English/Spanish, preferred, but not required
  • Adherence to client confidentiality
  • Experience in working with homeless community preferred, but not required
  • Willingness to participate as a team member
  • Clean Driving record and able to drive a 15 passenger Van
