This home located close to our Women and Children's shelter and just across the street from our Café is dedicated as Barbara's House and features five bedrooms for fixed/low income housing.
We have two bedrooms on ground level, one of which is ADA accessible and three rooms upstairs. Skagit County is in need of affordable housing. Our Homeless population continues to grow and the affordable housing availability is shrinking. We find that residents who are ready to leave our shelters have nowhere to go except back to homelessness. This is especially true for individuals on a fixed income, either S.S.I (disability insurance) or Social Security. There are long waiting lists for affordable housing and Barbara’s House is a step towards a solution.
