- Hours: part time Total of 29 hrs per week, multiple shifts available - $18.70 hr to start days and $19.25 hr for the overnight shift
Program:
Skagit First Step Center, Burlington, WA
Reports To: Shelter Manager
Job Overview:
Monitor the activities of the residents of the shelter/center and ensure compliance with program rules and expectations. Monitors are responsible for ensuring the safety of residents and the security and sanitation of the program. Document events that occur on shift and notify management of any emergency situations. Provide direct support to residents and work collaboratively with case managers to help ensure successful transition to permanent housing.
Responsibilities and Duties:
• Complete intake, assessment, emergency evacuation protocol and tour of facility for new residents.
• Meet weekly with residents to go over goals and services needed.
• Record data and provide written reports as directed by management.
• Consult with managers regarding resident’s personal needs, behavior, and service planning.
• Perform cabin checks once a week. If the first check reveals any areas of concern, staff can perform another check on that specific cabin.
• Maintain visitor protocol and follow daily log procedures
• Submit incident forms no later than 24 hours after incident.
• Maintain a comprehensive written record of events that occur during shift.
• Maintain resident sign in/out log, as well as other records described by management.
• Conduct periodic inspections of the facility and grounds.
• Conduct fire drills as directed by management.
• Answer telephones and route to appropriate staff. Respond to in-person and telephone inquiries.
• Receive, account for and secure all donations received during the shift, also provide donation receipt upon request. Do not accept cash or checks.
• Periodically check bathrooms and communal spaces for trash.
• Stock any products around the facility as needed.
• Sanitize regularly throughout shift.
• Clean cabins after resident check outs and record belongings left, if any.
• Make sure the grounds are maintained and trash remains picked up.
• Conduct a fire watch and record data every hour.
• Sort and hand out mail.
• Inform residents of meeting with case managers and activities.
• Refer residents to outside resources after the 90 day stay if needed.
• Perform any other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
The successful candidates shall possess a High School Diploma/GED and at least 2 years of community based social services experiences or other related experience with homeless adults, mentally ill or substance abusers.

CPR/First Aid Certification must be acquired and maintained once employed.

- The ability to operate a motor vehicle to transport oneself, others, and program supplies as necessary.
- The ability to stand, stoop, bend, reach, pull, push, grasp, climb, talk, see, hear and perform basic and light home maintenance activities.
- The ability to move and lift light objects up to 30lbs. such as mail, supplies, files, and equipment.
- The ability to operate office equipment requiring continuous or repetitive hand/arm movements.
- The ability to remain sitting position for extended periods of time.
Other:
This position may require driving a personal vehicle for company business. Must be privileged to drive according to the criteria set forth by Agency MVR guidelines
- Valid driver’s license in jurisdiction of resident
- Vehicle liability coverage if driving personal vehicle
- Occasional, may be required to transport residents in personal vehicle
- May be required to drive a van/bus
