The NumbersFriendship House is committed to using donor money wisely. Our Executive Director works closely with our Board of Directors to ensure due diligence in ethical fundraising and fiduciary responsibility.
The generosity of this community continually fills my heart with hope that we can make a difference in the lives of the house-less in Skagit County. Again, this year, donations from individuals, businesses, and congregations are significantly greater than in 2020. In addition, we have been the beneficiary of two substantial bequests in 2021, with a third gift in early 2022. The board and staff are working together to determine how best to utilize these generous gifts for the greatest impact to the Friendship House. Your continued financial support is key to sustaining, and growing, our programs. The overall financial pictures is healthy with adequate cash reserves to sustain operations.
Contracts and grants are another significant and reliable source of income in 2021. This year we did something incredible! We partnered with Skagit County and the City of Burlington to manage the Skagit First Step Center. The Friendship House also was contracted to operate the Winter Shelter and administered a Motel Voucher program. We continue to seek out new grant opportunities to fund infrastructure upgrades and major repairs such as the solar power project for the Cafe. |

Men Housed: 300 Women Housed: 188 LGBTQ+ : 21 Children Housed: 19 Total Bed Nights: 17,537 Meals Served: 36,026 Showers provided: 560 Countless individuals provided with clothing, laundry use and other essential needs There are some things that don’t show up on a financial statement, and that is the value of volunteer hours, donated food and necessities, and special projects. Thank you to our volunteers, church groups, service clubs, and in-kind donors for participating in the mission of the Friendship House. The En Vogue Fashion Show Fundraiser was held as a virtual event this year – and despite our collective ‘zoom fatigue’ this was wonderfully successful. Thank you to our MCs, designers, models, make-up and hair artists, who donated your time and energy to make this magical night a reality. On behalf of our Board of Directors, staff, and the people we serve, we extend our gratitude for your generosity!
