More About Our Coffee
Friendship House Café Manager, Tom Hoffman has mastered roasting techniques and packaging for two variations of beans. Our café is able to roast and sell fresh coffee thanks to the efforts put forth by Hunger to Hope students, volunteers, and staff. When we are not selling our coffee at the Mount Vernon Farmer’s Market, you can order directly from us! We roast our coffee weekly, typically to order.
A staff favorite would be our dark French Roast. This organic blend is the most popular amongst dark roast drinkers and much loved by our regular customers. An organic espresso blend of beans from Africa, Indonesia and South America.
Our medium roast is made with fair trade beans from Peru. These beans are sourced through Café Femenino. “The Café Femenino coffee program is one-of-a-kind ethical sourcing model committed to ending the cycle of poverty affecting women coffee farmers across the world. Café Femenino provides direct compensation to women farmers, along with the opportunity and resources to enact positive change in their communities and on their own terms.”
