Willowbrook hosts Seeding and Tea to benefit Friendship House
A great big thank you to Terry Gifford, SWAN and Willowbrook Manor for hosting another Tea and Seed event Saturday, March 11th to raise funds and awareness of programs of service through Friendship House. We enjoyed the lovely tea and propagating the chamomile for the fields and were able to raise $1,140.00!
Community drives, support our area homelessLast year we witnessed dozens of area groups come together and raise awareness of our work while gathering greatly needed items for us to share with those who are without.
As a homeless service provider, we are in touch with those who suffer the hardships that so many of our caring neighbors wish to provide for. We have seen real estate groups, local restaurants, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts alike, coming together with very successful drives to help touch the lives of individuals who right now, may feel a bit lonely. The list goes on, as far as the support we see on a daily basis in this way...and so we have decided to create this page in honor of those who care to contribute. If you are a donor and would like to add a personal message of why you chose to support Friendship House, or a testimony of the experience you enjoyed with your group while hosting a drive on our behalf...we would love to post it here and share with the community as you inspire us all to do more to get involved. You can also launch your own fundraising page or team to help spread more awareness! To submit articles, photos or testimonies, please email Rayna and please also note if we have permission to add the content on our social pages and/or e-newsletter shares as well.
Community fundraisers help spread the word of our workSome privately hosted fundraisers have occurred recently, including birthday giving that benefit the Friendship House, directly. We are very grateful for the communities energy and excitement for supporting our mission in serving those who need it most right here in Skagit County.

You can run a fundraising pagewondering how to support with a fundraiser? We call this our Peer 2 Peer Platform, where our friends, like you, can share a page on your own social network pages to help us reach more of the community with our story but you can also create a custom page that tells more of your story and how you are connected with us which will have a donate button for folks to support us directly through your own online peer to peer support page.

what would be the most meaningful types of donations that can be made around the holidays by small groups?
This is a question we hear often when calls come in this time of year and clubs and congregations look to serve during the holiday season.
Our supportive community members might want to do drives, random donations, gift bags, or possibly acts of service. Here is a list of common needs this time of year to give you some ideas if you also want to serve in this way.
- Gloves and mittens
- Hand warmers/toe warmers
- Underwear
- Sleeping bags / blankets
- Disposable dishes for Skagit First step Center
- Snacks for the sack lunch program (granola bars, chips, nuts, fruit leathers)
- Deodorant / toiletries

Being a part of Willowbrook Manor's 'giving field' of chamomile by helping plant seeds, brings friends and family together.
Seeding and Tea parties let you enjoy delicious tea and scones then visit together as you plant chamomile seeds into propagating trays. This benefit supports the Friendship House.
Willowbrook invites visitors to purchase the tea set of choice during this gathering which also benefits the work we do at Friendship House. This event opens the season for the chamomile fields at Willowbrook, each March...we hope to see you next year.
This privately hosted event raised over $2,000 for Friendship House in 2022.
