Individual Volunteers

You can make a difference in your community by volunteering with Friendship House! We believe in the power of people coming together to create positive change in our community.

We value each of our volunteers and want to make sure they are placed in the best positions for their skills and talents. If you'd like to volunteer at Friendship House, simply follow these instructions:

1. Familiarize yourself with our volunteer opportunities (at right)
2. Complete the volunteer application form (see below)
3. Set up a tour and information interview with the volunteer coordinator
4. Schedule a volunteer time

Please note: All volunteers must consent to a background check. Any volunteer younger than 18 must fill out a parental consent form and be accompanied by a supervising adult at all times while at Friendship House.

Volunteer opportunities

Love and Laundry Host: Our public laundry service, Love & Laundry needs help with greeting guests, supervising the facility, and operating machines. You would be imperative in supporting our mission to clothe those need.
Shifts Available: Daily 1pm-4pm. Partial shifts available

We need volunteers daily to distribute food at a satellite location.

​As an active shelter providing many services to our neighbors in need, we have a huge amount of work to be done and a small staff working to do it.  Specific details will depend on your skills and availability.

Event Support:
Concerts, ribbon cuttings, community drive challenges...
Events are planned ahead and talents of all varieties are needed for them to be successful.  Let us know your history in supporting special events so we can keep you informed as we plan upcoming activities.    

Fundraising Committee Volunteers:    
Currently recruiting additional team members to support our fundraising efforts.  Expected Commitment: Less than 2 hours monthly, occasional monthly meetings for up to an hour, another hour independently supporting the effort.  As events approach, more time may be requested.  Please contact Jen directly with your interest at mollie@skagitfriendshiphouse.org or 360-961-8434

​Farmers Market Community Connector: Market Volunteers staff our coffee sales booth and share the Friendship house story with the public at the Mount Vernon Saturday Market during the market seasons.
Shifts Available: Saturdays from 9am-2pm

Office Administration support:   Right now we are seeking a new administrative support person, or two to split the work load.  We have a need for support answering phones and accepting donations.  Other light administrative tasks may be assigned depending on interest.
Shifts Available: Monday through Thursday from 9am-3
